The Wakizashi is a petite blade ranging generally between 12 and 24 inches in length. When worn alongside the Katana in the obi belt, it forms the prestigious daisho set. The popularity of the Wakizashi surged as it became the weapon of choice for the commoners who were restricted from wielding the Katana.
Renowned for its efficacy in close-quarter combat and single-handed operations, the Wakizashi provided samurai with versatility in battle. Traditionally, samurai honed their skills by training with the Bokken or perfecting the art of Tameshigiri cut.
