Welcome to NIMOFAN Katana
Each NIMOFAN katana represents the pinnacle of Japanese sword craftsmanship, designed in Japan and expertly forged by our team of 11 master craftsmen.
The Anatomy of NIMOFAN Katana
Each component of our katanas is crafted with precision and care, representing centuries of sword-making tradition.
Blade Structure
The foundation of every NIMOFAN katana starts with a premium high-carbon steel blade, forged using traditional Japanese techniques.
Sori (Blade Curvature)
Our blades feature traditional curvature measurements, carefully crafted for optimal balance and cutting performance. Each curvature type is selected based on the sword's intended use and style.
Shinogi & Shinogi-Hi
The ridge line (shinogi) and fuller (shinogi-hi) are precisely crafted to maintain traditional proportions while optimizing blade performance. The shinogi-ji (flat section) is carefully polished to reveal the steel's grain pattern.
Hamon (Tempering Line)
Each blade showcases a distinctive hamon pattern, created through our traditional clay-tempering process. This process creates both aesthetic beauty and functional hardening of the cutting edge.
Kissaki (Blade Tip)
The blade tip is carefully shaped and polished, featuring proper boshi (hardening pattern) and yokote line. Available in various styles including chu-kissaki and o-kissaki.
Bo-Hi (Blade Groove)
Optional blade grooves are precisely cut to reduce weight while maintaining structural integrity. These grooves also produce the characteristic tachi-kaze (sword wind sound) during proper cuts.
