This is Saru Tōtō — a striking katana forged from T10 steel, featuring a playful and symbolic monkey-themed motif. The design represents agility, mischief, and the ancient tale of “the monkey picking peaches.”
The blade is clay tempered using traditional techniques, creating a beautiful hamon line along the edge. With fifteen steps of hand polishing and a clear yokote, the cutting geometry is both sharp and elegant.
The handle (tsuka) is wrapped in brown cord over white imitation ray skin, while the fittings feature a detailed brass and alloy tsuba with three-dimensional monkey and peach reliefs — a rare and whimsical design perfect for collectors.
